Sierra Leone's Vice President goes into Isolation After Security Personnel Dies of Ebola

The Sierra Leone's Vice President, Samuel Sam-Suman, voluntarily placed himself under a three week isolation after one of his security personnel died from the Ebola virus.

In a  statement released to the press, the Vice president stated that, "This virus has affected thousands of our people and has nearly brought our country to its knees. We all have a collective responsibility to break the chains of transmission by isolating the sick and reporting all known contacts, by not touching the dead … We cannot be complacent. We must work together as a nation to end Ebola now.” How thoughtful is he? This are the kind of the leaders we need who put their people and the welfare of their country before themselves.

As the President of Sierra Leone will be attending a European Union Conference on Ebola (what a coincidence!) in Belgium, the Vice President will become the acting president and will be carrying out his duties from his home.

Wishing him good health and hope he is not infected.
